Merichem Company, a global partner serving the oil and gas industries with focused technology, chemical, and service solutions, announced today that it was awarded a contract to design, construct and startup a LO-CAT® unit to treat amine acid gas produced at a cryogenic gas treating facility at an undisclosed location in Texas. The plant is scheduled to start up in early 2017.
The LO-CAT process catalytically converts hydrogen sulfide, H2S, into elemental sulfur suitable for landfill disposal or use as a soil amendment in certain agricultural areas, depending on local regulations. Mr. Ronald Buras, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Merichem Process Technology business unit said, “This latest LO-CAT plant offers low total cost of operations compared to various H2S scavenger systems and demonstrates Merichem’s commitment to the customer with an accelerated delivery schedule.” The technology has been licensed to over 225 companies worldwide.

Prior to joining Merichem, Mr. McTague held similar positions with Fisk Acquisition, Inc., as Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, and with Aker Kvaerner as Vice President of Finance.
Mr. McTague holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management (with a Minor in Economics) from Franklin & Marshall College, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Corporate Financial Management) from Pace University.

Merichem Company, a global partner serving the oil and gas industries with focused technology, chemical, and service solutions, announced today that Mr. Ronald J. Buras has been promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Merichem Process Technologies business unit reporting to Ms. Kendra Lee, Chairman and CEO of Merichem Company. In this new role, Mr. Buras will lead a recently reorganized technologies business that includes the company’s FIBER FILM®, MERICON®, LO CAT®, and customized catalysts sales and licensing activities.
Prior to joining Merichem in 2011, Ronald was employed by UOP LLC, a Honeywell Company, where he served as Sales Director for UOP’s process plants, process equipment, and gas processing product lines. He also held sales and management positions at Baker Hughes and Betz Process Chemicals. “Ronnie’s strong leadership and global business experience make him uniquely suited to unite the newly formed Process Technologies business unit in Houston, Texas” said Ms. Lee. “Combining the liquid treating and gas treating technology businesses on the site where we construct customer modules enables Merichem to maximize engineering efficiencies and control costs for our customers.” Mr. Buras holds a Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Louisiana – Lafayette, and a MBA from the University of New Orleans.
Merichem Company is pleased to announce the achievement of a major milestone in the implementation of the Ride Tight® Fluid Sealing Management Program. To date, Merichem has retrofitted more than 70% of its railcar fleet and plans to complete the process as part of its normal maintenance activities.
